The Museum
The new Gremi’s museum is situated in the old city in a building of the XVIII century. At the moment is still under building but at the ground floor is already available a permanent exhibition of black and white photographs of Antonio Mannu. When finished the museum will give a complete overlook on the old corporations.
The association “Cities Feasts with Shoulder Machines”
In 2006 started a big project to link all the Italian cities with historical parades in which “machines” are taken over the shoulder, as the Candelieri. These cities are Gubbio, Nola (Naples), Viterbo, Palmi (Reggio Calabria), Campobasso and Naples. See web site of “Feste con macchine a spalla”
The proverb
Fàrani candareri, affora li brasgèri!
The Candelieri descent (Faradda) is in the middle of august when the weather start toward getting colder as the summer start ending. The tradition was that after the Faradda the so called braciere (a brass brazier where coal was burned inside the home) were taken out ready to be used. The braciere had a tin on it to favors the air circulation. This was often the only way to worm up the houses at that period and still now it is possible to see in use by the old people.
The typical course of the Faradda

The typical course during the Faradda is filled big slugs, one of the most favorite course in Sassari. The big slugs are boiled and then filled with a sauce done with eggs, cheese, bread and tomato.
