In occasion of the Faradda descent several emigrants come back to Sassari to attend the feast. In 1963 started the tradition to award a prize to that man who, born in Sassari, lives far away abroad (Gold Candeliere) and to that one who lives from the longer period in the mainland Italy (Silver Candeliere). Another particular award (The Special Gold Candeliere or City of Sassari Award) is given to the association particularly distinguished in sport, economy, politics, culture, science etc. The award ceremony takes place the 13th august evening in the City Hall.
